The Mission of the Department of Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs is to ensure that all municipalities perform their basic responsibilities and functions consistently.
This assists in achieving the Vision of a functional and developmental local government system that delivers on its constitutional and legislative mandates within a system of cooperative governance.
A key tool of CoGTA is the Integrated Urban Development Framework (https://iudf.co.za/) which aims to foster a shared understanding across government and society about how best to manage urbanisation and achieve the goals of economic development, job creation and improved living conditions.
