This report titled "Youth Driving Climate Action in Informal Settlements" illuminates the urgent challenges faced by youth in urban areas, particularly in the Global South. It emphasises the need for direct communication channels between youth and governments, underscoring the crucial role of young people in shaping the urban future, specifically in driving climate action. The report highlights the disproportionate impact of various challenges, especially on young girls, within crowded informal settlements, pointing out the potential risks to the prospects of future generations if effective measures are not taken.

In addressing these concerns, the report advocates for the implementation of incremental climate adaptation solutions that leverage the collaboration between local authorities and communities. These solutions are essential not only for addressing the root causes of vulnerability and enhancing household and community resilience but also for supporting comprehensive urban planning and action. Drawing on successful climate action initiatives led by Cities Alliance, the report serves as a call to action, emphasising the critical importance of investing in youth engagement and leadership to advance climate action in informal settlements.
