The article describes actions taken by residents of Mkhondo in Piet Retief pleading for Mpumalanga's premier to intervene. Over 5000 residents signed a petition to get the premier to the area with the objective to highlight challenges faced by the municipality. Challenges faced by the municipality range from service delivery to the mismanagement of municipal funds. The residents first marched to the municipal offices in Central Piet Retief to demand answers from their mayor and councillors. The residents maintain that their actions are not politically motivated hence they had not called for the mayor to resign but rather demanded that the municipality deliver appropriate services to their constituents.
