Book

Africa

This book focuses on the urban peripheries of African cities. These are areas on the outskirts of cities that are experiencing rapid change and development. The book examines the forces driving the transformation of these spaces and the experiences of people living in them. Using data from cities in Ethiopia, South Africa, and Ghana, as well as comparisons with other African contexts, the book analyses how these peripheral areas are shaped by various factors, such as economic transitions, political practices, and social changes. It highlights the complexity of life on the urban periphery, emphasising the voices and experiences of the residents.
