The Land Portal has introduced the State of Land Information Index (SOLIndex) as part of its mission to make land data open, accessible, and actionable for all.

The SOLIndex evaluates the availability and openness of public sector land administration data worldwide. It serves as a critical tool for policymakers, researchers, land data custodians, and practitioners to identify data gaps, promote transparency, and enhance land governance decision-making. Currently, assessments for 25 countries are available, with 17 more set to be added in January 2025.

What does the SOLIndex offer?

  • Insights: Track the openness of land information at national levels.
  • Visual power: Transform data into clear, actionable visualisations.
  • Advocacy and partnership: Work with public sector data custodians to improve access to information.
  • Original data sources: Use our research to fuel your own – data sources are named, linked, and described in detail.

Explore the SOLIndex here.
