This article discusses the efforts made to enhance project management and infrastructure sustainability in Blouberg Local Municipality through the Municipal Capability & Partnership Programme (MCPP). The MCPP, a collaboration between Anglo American, the Department of Cooperative Governance, and other partners, has been implemented to address the challenges faced by the municipality in delivering essential infrastructure services. The programme has led to significant improvements in project management, asset management, and development planning. Notable achievements include effective record-keeping, regular project progress meetings, and timely completion of projects within budget. These efforts have resulted in increased stakeholder confidence, additional funding, and improved asset tracking systems. The bottom-up approach of the MCPP has empowered municipal staff, leading to sustainable service delivery and long-term infrastructure management.
