This second revised edition of the Compendium serves as a comprehensive resource on sanitation systems and technologies. It aims to provide readers with a valuable planning tool by organising and presenting a wide range of information on tried and tested sanitation technologies in a concise document. The first part of the Compendium outlines various system configurations suitable for different contexts, offering a broad overview of sanitation approaches. The second part comprises 57 technology information sheets, each detailing the key advantages, disadvantages, applications, and appropriateness of specific technologies essential for constructing a comprehensive sanitation system. To enhance understanding, each technology information sheet is accompanied by a descriptive illustration. Overall, the report is designed to empower decision-makers with the knowledge needed to make informed choices in the planning and implementation of sanitation systems.
