Biography
Karishma Busgeeth, a geomatics engineer, is currently employed by the Housing Development Agency in South Africa where she is leading a team of seasoned professionals in the development of Policies & Regulations, Research & Analyses and Tools & Systems whilst monitoring and evaluating the impact of spatial transformation on land and human settlements projects. She has previously worked as a land surveyor in Mauritius and has led and managed various GIS and remote sensing projects with national impacts in South Africa. Some of the projects include the development and implementation of an HIV/AIDS trials management system using spatial technologies, the application of remote sensing technologies in monitoring informal settlements and the development of The Presidency territorial review system to facilitate evidence-based planning and good governance. Further, she has lectured, delivered several presentations both locally and internationally and has been the lead author on several publications. She has a keen interest in spatial transformation, urban growth, planning and modelling as well as sustainability science among others.
